Objectives and Topics

The First German Services Science Conference will concentrate on knowledge intensive services for businesses. It will bring together representatives from academia and industry to create a better understanding of open issues and identify the weaknesses of current practices. The conference aims to shape the scope of a Services Science.

The topics addressed at the conference will include:

The current status of national and international research and teaching in services
  • What are the perceived strengths and weaknesses of national and international research and teaching in services?
  • What are new requirements for services research and teaching

    Services Science as a new paradigm in academia
  • What should be the core elements and principles of Services Science?
  • Which scientific disciplines are not sufficiently integrated in services research and teaching?
  • Do we need service-specific curricula and if so, what should they include?
  • What role do services play in innovation and how is innovation in services created?

    Collaboration between the service industry and academia as a core element of Services Science
  • How can the cooperation between the service industry and academia be improved in a
  • win-win manner?
  • Which forms of institutionalization are practical and useful?

    The conference aims to be a forum for stimulating discussion on these topics. The goal is to generate ideas and impulses for further work. The conference will consist of plenary presentations, impulse presentations and panel discussions.
